blogging = FAILURE

I swear I am a much better DJ than a blogger...lol. Time goes by so quick, before I know it I realize its been two months since I updated my blog. FAIL! So here's a quick post to update the world on what's been going on at Platinum Mix:

#1 It's Prom Season!! Yay! Prom's keep us really busy end of April through the beginning of June. Personally, I looooovvee proms. Its the same concept as deejaying night clubs (with some minor music content issues...haha), except we get to setup larger sound & lighting systems and as a bonus there's all the video screen goodness. Great times!

A quick shot of me making a strange face, wearing sunglasses given to me by students (bribery to play one of their requests), and the stolen prom king crown. I think i look like a dude with fat arms, but I'm so excited about getting to be the prom king that I'm posting it anyway. : )

Just be thankful I'm not doing my "I'm on a Boat" dance in this pic....

#2 Congratulations to all of our wedding clients the past few months! You all have been soooooo great, and just because we haven't blogged about you doesn't mean we don't love you, it just means that again, we are all much better DJs than bloggers.

#3 Platinum Mix has gotten macified. Meaning, finally an iMac has been added to the basement editing studio. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. It does look pretty sitting on the desk, but functionally...I'm still getting used to CMD versus CTRL. The guys are thrilled. Eric was over the other day editing a wedding video. He was over all of 4 hours and it seems he spent the entire time downloading mac software/plugins/etc. While he was at lunch, I snuck over to the mac to get a file and realized that none of my old shortcut keys work. As soon as Eric returned, there was a good ole fashion "WHAT THE HELL BRO?" conversation, but then Eric showed me this slick little program he installed called "Quicksilver", which explained why my spotlight shortcuts didn't work. Once he showed me, I am now hooked - pretty slick program.
Time will tell if the Mac will help us do better work for our clients. Here is the first official macified platinum mix wedding video highlights, completed yesterday by Eric (I guess he did get some work done afterall....lol):

#4 YouTube is busy deleting all of the audio in our uploaded video clips due to copyright violations. Come on...I totally support muscians and happily pay for their music and attend concerts (I even buy fan t-shirts!), but I honestly don't see the big deal if we use one of their tracks in somebody's wedding video. We are now moving to the temporary Plan B, vimeo.com. Vimeo offers better playback quality and is a nicer looking site in my opinion anyway. They will probably start deleting audio also, so soon we will be at Plan C, hosting the video at platinummix.com. But until Plan C is figured out, Vimeo is our new video home.
